We often get into a routine where we follow a strict schedule and rush from one task to another.  In the midst of the craziness of the day we often lose ourselves.  We lose our ability to think clearly and it becomes close to impossible to function.  I have noticed that I fall into this trap more times than I would probably want to admit.  But, I have found that adding margin or breaks into my daily schedule where not every minute is booked leads to freedom, but oh how hard that is.

It’s so tempting to be super busy and push hard to your goals, accounting for every minute of your schedule.  This daily grind wears on you and your ability to function deteriorates.  But, I believe that finding the time to recharge will allow you to be more productive, have mental clarity, be more creative (because of the mental clarity), be less stressed, and be more healthy.  I believe that when we have free space built into our schedules and we have a level of mental clarity, we become more creative, innovative, and are better at engaging with others.  Additionally, we allow the subconscious mind the room to operate and give us new ideas and thoughts.  Finally, it is essential that you take control of your schedule and you make it a priority to build margin into your schedule.  The discipline of adding margin to your life will lead to freedom.

I find that most of my “light bulb” moments happen in the margins that I have consciously allowed into my life and schedule.  Ideas, solutions to problems, insights on relationships, and general life intuition are all fruits of allowing my mind to recharge and breathe.  Its amazing to me the power of the mind and its ability to create out of nothing (other than the stimuli that the body may be receiving or had received in the past).  How much more could we be innovative?  How much more could we be creative?  How frequent could we feel stress free?  How often could we experience freedom?  How often could we have “light bulb” moments?  How often could we solve life’s most complex issues?

These are the questions we must ask ourselves if we truly want to maximize our mental abilities.  It’s these “light bulb” moments that may take you, your organization, your company, or potentially even all of mankind to a place that never could have been imagined.  What changes are you going to make today that will add margin to your schedule?  Let’s get after it TODAY!
